Today I had my run-through for my upcoming radiation treatment. While the process takes a while to setup, the treatment is precise, efficient and effective.

Radiation Therapy Setup: Part 2

Seeing how accurate and exact this treatment process is puts my mind at ease. In order for the radiation to initiate, all of the "coordinates" in the system must match. This guarantees that your body is in the same position each time for the radiation to "go" ONLY where it's supposed to "go."

Since I'll be laying face down, the chances of scattered radiation in the lungs and rib cage are reduced. It's important to note that not all treatment centers have adopted this face-down method for breast cancer radiation however it is my understanding that it's becoming more common across treatment centers in America.

I hope that this video takes away some of the mystery surrounding the radiation treatment process - I know I wasn't sure what to expect! Wish me luck in January!
