Soap Opera: All my Children
Joan Lunden goes behind closed doors with the long-running Emmy winning, ABC Daytime drama, "All My Children." Lunden reveals what it takes to put a daily soap opera together and keep the audience hooked year after year. She sits down with many of the cast members, visits the ultimate family attic -- checking out the prop department where hundreds of sets and thousands of props have been stored and used for over 31 years, and gets a rare glimpse of the actual All My Children set. Among those interviewed for this segment, Lunden sits down with the Emmy Award winning Susan Lucci and huge fan, Carol Burnett. Viewers will see clips from classic performances by famous stars like Rosie O'Donnell and Stevie Wonder. They'll also find out the 'dos' and 'don't's' of the steamy love scene, as well as learn what actors are really thinking during those dramatic pauses as the camera lingers on their faces before going to commercials. Finally, Lunden gets to play a wise cracking waitress for an AMC episode (that aired on January 26), where she learns how the writers come up with storylines, goes through rehearsals and then plays her part in an actual show taping.
