Autumn is definitely my favorite time of year. The cool, refreshing weather, the smells in the air, the vibrant colors of the changing trees, seasonal decorating... and so many fun family holidays!

Decorating my house for Halloween is one of my favorite things to do with my kids. We usually start out by going to one of our favorite local pumpkin patches, a family favorite activity.  Our local spots have petting zoo's, fruit and vegetable stands, games and activities, and yummy fall foods to sample.  While we're there, each child gets to pick their perfect pumpkin and I make sure to grab a few goodies for myself too!  Mini pumpkins, squash, and colorful corncobs make the perfect decor pieces that make the house look and smell like fall.

Then, we head back home to get crafty!  Once home, we set up shop with carving tools, towels, lots of garbage bags, and LOTS of adult supervision!  The kids love to carve scary or funny faces into their pumpkins and the seeds head for the oven to roast with some salt.  We also like to try new baked recipes each year that we find online, like these cobweb cookies.  There are so many different recipes and crafts you can choose from, take some time before hand to browse the internet with the kids and let them choose their own ideas!

We like to end the day on the couch, all cuddled up with our sweet and salty snacks and watch a scary halloween movie or the 13 nights of Halloween on ABC family (which kicks of this Sat, Oct 19th) which my kids LOVE!

Here are some suggestions for fun crafting ideas from Good Housekeeping, if you have any great ideas for me to try out this weekend I would love to hear about them!
