As I’ve incorporated walking into my life, I’ve enjoyed many different kinds of walks.  Not only is it a great way to stay fit, but it has also been a wonderful way to spend quality time with my family and reconnect with nature.  We have a home in Southern Maine where I love to take advantage of the beautiful outdoors. During the winter when the lake freezes over I find it exhilarating to trek through the stunning winter wonderland. In the summer I get together with friends and we explore local hiking trails.  At summers end I always find that I feel healthy and fit, so 5 years ago I decided I wanted to share that feeling with other women.  I started a summer weekend getaway, Camp Reveille, where women come from around the country to reenergize and play.  First order of business – to start each day with a morning walk!  I quickly found that walking is not only good for the heart, but also for matters of the heart.  These morning walks amidst the pines produce a camaraderie that encourages conversation and motivation.  We learn about each other, help each other with our challenges, and grow together by walking together.  There’s nothing like this kind of camaraderie to inspire and put a little life in your step!  We can all find that sense of community by signing up for a local walk in our area.  The energy and power that comes from this kind of walk is not only good for the sponsoring cause, but also good for the soul!
