Walk with Walgreens - Walking for Relationships
Since I have been Walking for Walgreens I have started using my walks as opportunities to connect with friends and family. I use my walks as time to take a step out of the office and into conversation. My work/personal life balance can get fuzzy from time to time as one of my best friends, and one of my daughters both work for my company! Not to mention, my husband works a few doors down from me!
While working in such a familial environment is the best thing I could ask for, I feel that it is important to maintain my relationships outside the workplace as well as around the conference table. We have started taking walks as times to step away from the email and simply catch up. Whether it’s a “mommy-daughter walk,” a “friend walk,” or a “husband & wife walk,” we use the time to strictly not talk about business for a little while and chat about life. My husband and I laugh at what the kids said at dinner the night before and my daughter and I discuss her life outside the office.
We spontaneously squeeze these walks in during the week whether it’s a walk to pick up lunch, a quick loop around the park on a nice day, or even a short walk to the post office. Just because you see someone every day, doesn’t mean that you necessarily get that one on one time to just talk and connect. I recommend using a walk as a way to reconnect and enjoy your loved ones company.
