Summer is officially here and there is no time like the present to get out and start enjoying all that these hot sunny days have to offer before fall blows in and sends us all back inside. Consider some of these great activities that have worked for me and will help encourage you to get a solid workout outside while soaking up some rays.

Speaking of sunrays, don’t forget to take along some of my favorite sun protection products so your fun in the sun doesn’t put your skin in danger!

Paddle Boarding

Paddle Boarding has really taken off over the last several years and for good reason; it’s a blast! This full body workout will have you sweating in no time. The beauty of this activity is that in order to cool off, you just need to take a step off your board into the cool water. There is nothing quite like fun on the water in the summertime.

Running Clubs

Running clubs are a great way to get out and meet some fun new people while getting in a great exercise. There are running clubs for all ages and running abilities, so don’t be shy about asking around for a running club that fits you! A great worldwide running club that I am a part of is the November Project. The November Project is just one example of a fun and welcoming club that is a great fit for just about anyone. If there are no November Project clubs near you, you can also check with a local YMCA or Park and Recreation office to see if there are any other clubs in your home town!

Outdoor Basketball

Basketball is a great way to get together with friends and family. The equipment is cheap and the rules are simple. It is usually easy to find a public basketball court and the only other thing you really need is a basketball. Don’t forget about sports like basketball when trying to think of something fun to do outdoors. This classic game never gets old and can be enjoyed by everyone!

Trapeze Lessons

Trapeze lessons may be a little off the wall (literally) but don’t laugh too hard when considering this adventurous idea. Trapeze lessons are available in most major cities and are surprisingly affordable. This is one of those fun summer activities that will make life long memories, even if you are only able to experience it once!

Going to the Park

This might seem a little too leisurely to be considered a fitness activity, but with a little imagination, a good park is better than a gym. Use the playground equipment like an obstacle course (think America Ninja Warriors), or army crawl up the hills and then roll race back down. Feel like keeping it a little more low key? Bike riding, walking, lunges, pull-ups, playing catch or Frisbee, the list of fitness activities that you, your friends, and family (and dog) can do at the park is endless! Check here to check for parks near you!

Safety First!

It is amazing how quickly fun in the sun can turn into a blistering bad time. Before hitting the great outdoors be sure to take a few precautions to make certain the only thing you bring home is sore muscles and smiles.

Goodr Running Sunglasses

Goodr Running Sunglasses are the perfect fit for protecting your eyes while on a long, hot run. Their no slip grip keeps them from sliding down even the sweatiest of faces and they are polarized and provide full UV protection, all for under $30. There is no better (or more colorful) way to protect your eyes when on your run!

Colorescience Brush-on Sunscreen

Colorescience has perfected the art of protecting your skin with their award winning Sunforgettable Brush-On Sunscreen and other UV protectors. Colorescience Sunscreen never feels or looks greasy and it won’t clog your pores; just two of the reasons it was named one of 2017 InStyle Best Beauty Buys! The on the go applicator makes it easy to carry along on your outdoor adventures!

Coolibar Sun Protection Clothing

Coolibar sun protection clothing has a UPF 50 that helps protect your skin from the damaging rays of the summer sun. They offer a large variety of clothing styles that are perfect for every outdoor activity. No need to stress about missing a spot on your back, these clothes will have you feeling stylish and confident you aren’t getting a sunburn while you enjoy your favorite outdoor fitness activities!

Summer’s End

Don’t miss your chance to soak up some vitamin D while playing in the sun this summer. These fun outdoor fitness activities are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to things you, your friends, and family can do to get your exercise in while going out! By adding these great UV fighters, you will feel confident that you can spend as much time in the great outdoors as you desire! Have fun!
