I am a breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, May 12, 2012 at the age of 65.
As all women, you never want to hear the words, "you have breast cancer." For me it was extremely difficult because my sister died of inflammatory breast cancer at the age of 50. I was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer and didn't want the same outcome.
After digesting my diagnosis I began my fight. Lumpectomy, lymph node removal, chemo, and radiation. During chemo, I had to have a blood transfusion. I woke up one day with a black eye…it went away as quickly as it appeared. I hated a lot of food and couldn't stand the smell of coffee. During my four months of chemo I continued to work on a limited schedule. Once I completed chemo and started radiation I felt much better.
Two years + I am thriving. I still work. I get up everyday and smile. I live life to the fullest and never look back. I am not ready to leave this earth…I have much more to accomplish.
