My breast cancer story hum....where do you start? Oh, yes the day I found an enlarge lymph node under my arm while laying on my bed with my grandson watching a Disney movie. Being a nurse I knew immediately I was in trouble having very dense breasts meant lumpy tender breast for as long as I remember. Every time I found a new lump I was reassured by my doctor I had nothing to worry about the lump I found the year before turned out to be Triple Negative breast cancer now in my lymph nodes. I had negative mammograms even when I had a 2 centimeter in my breast. I was fast tracked first to the surgeon then the Oncologist treatment began with chemo clinical trial first due to the aggressive behavior of triple negative then on to surgery bilateral mastectomy was my choice then onto radiation. I waited two years for reconstruction allowing my body to recouperate. I was lucky to be blessed with a wonderful family, supportive friends and the right treatment. I am a survivor...I am strong...I am five years out..it cannot break you and only changes what you allow it to change.
