When diagnosed with BC in March of 2014 I was in a state of shock as I ate healthy food, had a healthy lifestyle and no family history. Instead of feeling like a victim, however, I decided to fight back. Went to 3 breast care specialists to choose the one I felt most comfortable with. This is so important as you must truly trust the doctor and the treatment. I went from the first doctor, who proposed a mastectomy, to a doctor at Emory Hospital in ATL -- who first did chemo, followed by a lumpectomy. By the time I was done with 4 sessions of chemo, the lump had disappeared, :) making it easy to operate on. You can hardly tell anything was done to my breast. This week I begin my 4-week radiation treatment.

My family and friends' love and support made a world of difference. Not a day went by when I did not get a card, a call, a gift... I was touched by the kindness and love of all who cared for me, including of course my wonderful husband and daughter. Another thing that was a tremendous help was NOT losing my hair through chemo. I heard of the "cold caps" a few days before chemo began and rushed to get everything needed for preventing my hair from falling. Keeping my hair has enabled me to feel normal and was one less worry!!

As soon as I got diagnosed I began reading Bible verses in which healing occurred. With faith in God's healing power, I repeated those verses -- believing them into existence. I am 56 and can tell you that a positive attitude makes a world of difference!
