APFM contest winner is coming to Camp Reveille!
A Place for Mom launched its second annual caregiver getaway contest with the winning prize being a trip to my Camp Reveille this August in Naples, Maine. I had the pleasure of contacting the winner, Sylvia Davis, myself to deliver the news!
It was so much fun for me to surprise Sylvia on the phone to tell her that she had won the APFM contest to come to my Camp Reveille this month. At first she was so taken aback that I was really on the phone with her, but then I got the conversation going and asked her about her caregiving responsibilities and if she needed a break from it all just to relax and rejuvenate. "You bet I do” she said. I reassured her that most of us women are the same, we think we can be superwomen and take care of every single person in our lives, and somehow we will just withstand it all and keep standing. But guess what? Every now and then you need to exhale, and take care of yourself. I can’t wait to meet Sylvia and her friend Joyce (she won the trip for two) when they get to camp. Reveille is held on the beautiful campus of Camp Takajo — one of the premier boys camps in southern Maine, which my husband Jeff Konigsberg owns. When all of the little boys go home mid-August, we do a make-over to the bunks and welcome over 200 women from all over the U.S. to a long weekend of play therapy. I so often hear women on their way out saying “I’ve never laughed so hard” or “I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun!”
